"It's been more than a quarter century since the 1988 dedication of the large monument that vividly depicts a U.S. soldier covering a wounded comrade with a blanket.

But it wasn't until this month that it became possible to walk directly to the base of the monument without trudging up the grassy incline on which it sits.

Two sets of broad, granite steps have been installed to allow visitors to read the names of the 22 Taunton soldiers killed between 1950 and 1953 in either South or North Korea."
